Introducing Happening Romo, a cultural mix by Sotol Romo & FaroLatino

Sotol Romo and FaroLatino Media Network Present Happening Romo: Latin Culture, Served in New York

A private gathering at the intersection of Latin music, mixology and gastronomy, featuring live performances by JUANMA and Sofish, Chef Thomas Brown Clarke, and mixologists Alba Huerta and Jeff Bell.

NEW YORK — Sotol Romo, the ultra-premium sotol brand founded by Claudia Romo Edelman, and FaroLatino Media Network, the Latin American music and entertainment company with 30 years in the business, present Happening Romo: A Cultural Mix. The private gathering takes place November 4 at Claudia Romo Edelman’s home studio in New York.

The vision is immersive: Latin culture isn’t explained; it is lived. Happening Romo brings together three disciplines that share roots and a common language (gastronomy, mixology, and music) in a single night, curated for a select audience from the U.S. cultural, entertainment and media industries.

Sotol takes center stage

At the heart of the night is Sotol Romo. Built for fine dining and private clubs, the bar becomes a showcase for an ultra-premium spirit from northern Mexico that is defining the next era of Mexican mixology. Crafted from 100% wild-harvested Dasylirion that takes 15 to 20 years to mature in the desert, Sotol Romo offers a clean, elegant profile that perfectly anchors America’s craft cocktail scene.

The music: Juanma and Sofish

Juan Manuel Restrepo, known as ‘JUANMA’, is a Colombian actor, singer and songwriter with more than eight years in entertainment and social media. He has starred in series such as La Reina del Flow and Pasión de Gavilanes 2, and his music blends urban sounds with pop and Latin rhythms, with lyrics about love, forgiveness and inner peace that resonate with a strong international community.

Sofish is one of the freshest and boldest voices in new Mexican pop, fusing urban sounds with French house and alternative R&B. Her single “Me Caigo” went viral across Europe and Latin America, and Remezcla called her “iconic… fresh and elegant… diva alert.” In 2026 she landed the cover of Spotify’s Novedades Viernes with “París (Junto a ti)”, performed at Billboard’s showcase at SXSW, and was named a Spotify EQUAL artist.

The kitchen: Chef Thomas Brown Clarke

Before becoming a full-time content creator and culinary storyteller, Thomas Brown Clarke spent more than a decade in some of the country’s most prestigious kitchens. As a private chef, he has cooked for Beyoncé, Jay-Z, Usher, and former President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama.

The bar: Alba Huerta and Jeff Bell

Born in Monterrey and raised in Houston, Alba Huerta blends her Mexican-American roots with the culture of the American South. Her bar Julep won the 2022 James Beard Award for Outstanding Bar Program, the first Houston establishment to win a national James Beard Award in a bar category, and the city declared November 18 “Julep Day” in her honor.

Jeff Bell is managing partner at PDT and co-owner of Mixteca and Kees, and has been named U.S. Bartender of the Year and American Bartender of the Year. A longtime champion of Sotol Romo and the sotol category, he has led masterclasses for the brand and traveled to Chihuahua to learn firsthand about the plant and the desert where it grows.

The voices

“Sotol Romo represents the future of Mexican spirits, just as FaroLatino champions the future of our music,” said Claudia Romo Edelman, founder of Sotol Romo. “Latin culture doesn’t need translation—it needs a stage. Tonight, we are bringing together the visionaries, the sounds, and the tastes that are defining the next era of Latin excellence in America.”

“For 30 years we’ve built the infrastructure behind Latin music, from platforms to rights. Making that visible in the U.S. alongside Sotol Romo lets us show what’s behind every release: a culture you hear, taste and toast to,” said Javier Fainzaig CEO of FaroLatino.

Beyond one night

Happening Romo is a shared statement of intent. For Sotol Romo, it cements the brand’s place where craft cocktail culture meets Latin culture in the U.S. For FaroLatino, it marks a push in its U.S. expansion, in a market where Latin music is no longer a niche but part of the country’s cultural pulse.
